A CASE REPORT OF BENIGN METASTASIZING LEIOMYOMA
Abstract
Benign metastasizing leiomyoma (BML) is an extremely rare condition characterized by the presence of benign smooth muscle tumors outside the uterus, most commonly in the lungs, lymph nodes, peritoneum, and bones. Despite its benign histological nature, BML exhibits metastatic behavior, posing diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report the case of a 44-year-old female presenting with a 5-cm abdominal wall lesion confirmed as a benign smooth muscle tumor, along with multiple bilateral pulmonary and peritoneal metastatic nodules. The patient subsequently underwent bilateral oophorectomy and excision of part of the peritoneal lesions, followed by active surveillance.
