Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the incidence of chronic hearing impairment and its impact on the quality of life in nasopharyngeal carcinoma survivors who have been disease-free for five years or more after chemoradiation.
Methods: Retrospective and follow-up of stage II-IVB nasopharyngeal carcinoma cases (AJCC7 treated with chemoradiation at K Hospital from 2010-2013, focusing on those with disease-free survival of five years or more. Evaluate hearing impairment (according to CTCEA v4.03) and quality of life. Assess the impact of chronic hearing impairment on quality of life using the Cohen D impact factor.
Results: With 109 cases, hearing impairment (grade 3:15.6% and grade 4:3.7%)
Grade 4 hearing impairment greatly affects the score of role function, cognitive function, pain, and loss of appetite.
